HotMovies Announces Support for Marsha P. Johnson Institute

PHILADELPHIA — HotMovies.com has launched an initiative to support the Marsha P. Johnson Institute (MPJI), the organization named after the activist, a black trans woman, prominent in the Stonewall Riots of 1969.

“In celebration of Pride Month and honoring the civil rights movement underway, HotMovies.com has created an initiative to support the Marsha P. Johnson Institute,” said a rep.

HotMovies has committed to donating $500 to the MPJI. During the month of June, any HotMovies user who donates to the MPJI will receive one free VOD minute for every dollar donated if they email their receipt to donate@hotmovies.com.

“Marsha ‘Pay It No Mind’ Johnson (also known as 'Black Marsha') was an activist and drag queen who brought an under-represented voice to the attention of the LGBTQ+ community,” the rep added.

“In keeping with the legacy of Marsha,” the rep continued, “the MPJI works to promote and defend the human rights of the black trans community, a historically marginalized group that comes under a disproportionate amount of violence, harassment and prejudice. The MPJI works in the areas of advocacy, organization, and community building to accomplish its mission.”

To donate to the MPJI, and to learn more about their mission, visit their website. For more information on HotMovies, click here and follow them on Twitter.
